Family Counseling

What is family counseling? Family counseling is designed to address specific issues that affect the health and functioning of a family unit. This counseling type can help families through a difficult time or ease the family's adjustment to a significant life transition. Therapy is viewed through the family unit's lens, and every effort is made to support the family unit throughout all of life's phases.

Family therapy can help your family address:

  • Conflict, divorce or separation

  • Issues unique to blended families

  • Developing or maintaining healthy relationships and boundaries within the family

  • Substance abuse or addiction within the family unit

  • Unexpected illness or death

  • Mental health concerns

How does counseling work?

The first session's primary goal is to listen to you and your family's concerns and get to know you as a unique family. Based on the information you provide, recommendations will be made regarding the focus, desired outcomes, frequency, and length of counseling. Your specific family goals and personality types will determine the strategies and approaches used during counseling.
